American actress Reese Witherspoon has just announced that the comedy “The Revenge of the Blonde 3”, currently in preparation, will be inspired by… “Top Gun: Maverick”!
A priori, there is not much in common between the comedy The Revenge of a blonde and the recent blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. And yet, American actress Reese Witherspoon has just declared that the third part of her saga, in preparation since 2018, was going to be inspired by the film worn by Tom Cruise!
“I’m still hoping that Blonde’s Revenge 3 will come to fruition, that things will fall into place properly”says the 46-year-old actress on USA Today. “It’s like Top Gun. They waited a long time to do another version of the movie, and I loved the nostalgia they put into it.”
“It inspired us a lot about what we would like to do with the character of Elle Woods”continues Reese Witherspoon. “We want to make sure that we have for this new movie all the same things that mattered to people at the time.”
Released in theaters in 2001, the comedy The Blonde’s Revenge, which tells the story of a gifted and optimistic young woman (Witherspoon) trying to win back her ex-boyfriend by obtaining a law degree at Harvard, was a great public success with more than 140 million dollars in revenue worldwide. A sequel, The Blonde Strikes Back, was released in 2003.
