Top meeting in Graz – Hudson wins javelin throw, Dadic dissatisfied

Javelin thrower Victoria Hudson has digested her World Cup disappointment and won on Saturday at the Austrian Top Meeting in Graz-Eggenberg with 60.98 m. It was her third largest distance this year.

“Today, the warm-up and the competition went well,” said Hudson, who will compete in Italy before the European Athletics Championships in Munich in mid-August. In the World Cup final she would have been the second best European, which gives hope for the continental title fights. Pole vaulter Riccardo Klotz achieved a new personal best with 5.65 m. “It was a great dress rehearsal for the European Championships, I have nothing to lose there and will attack fully, things can only go up.” All-around athlete Ivona Dadic tested in the 100m hurdles heat (14.10 seconds) and long jump (5.80 m) her form for Munich. “The time over the hurdles is less satisfying, I would have expected more. Of course we’ve trained a lot in the last few days, but 5.80 m in the long jump isn’t good enough even with tired legs,” she said.
