After the 66-year-old got out at the Kriessern West rest area, thick smoke was blowing from the engine compartment of his car. Then the car started to burn.
When the rescue workers arrived, the Ferrari was already in full fire. The fire brigade was able to put out the fire. However, the sports car was totaled.
Technical defect suspected
In addition to several patrols by the St. Gallen canton police, the local fire brigade and road maintenance service were on duty. The Forensics Competence Center also moved to clarify the cause of the fire. A technical defect is currently suspected to be the cause.
