“Total panic”: Online scammers cancel a family’s cruise vacation

Tiffany and her family from America were looking forward to a break on a cruise ship. She spent $15,000 (around €14,000) on the vacation and had booked the largest suite on the ship. The mother of four reported this on TikTok. Then came the shock: Tiffany received an email informing her that two excursions had been canceled. She investigated the matter and found out that her cabin had also been canceled. “Total panic,” Tiffany says of her feelings.

No vacation on the cruise ship

All this happened two days before the trip was supposed to begin. On the phone, an employee told her that someone had logged into the online system and cancelled the vacation. There was also only one option: the family could take two interior rooms. For Tiffany, who had been planning this vacation for a year, this was an impossible thing. She did not accept the offer. In her video, she says that she never expected that she would not get her money back.

Someone stole your identity

In another video, the mother gives an update. Apparently someone stole her identity. Tiffany reports that she and her husband posted something about the vacation on Facebook. The booking number was also visible on it.

Someone is said to have created an account and canceled their reservation two days before the trip started. Tiffany announced this on TikTok. Now the family has certainty – but there is still no solution regarding the money.

Another family had also imagined their vacation differently. As mother Melissa (30) reported, her sons and her husband apparently got food poisoning while on vacation in Greece. They even had to go to hospital. In the end, the family left earlier than planned. “It was a nightmare,” said the 30-year-old about the vacation.
