TotalEnergies: an energy storage site commissioned

(CercleFinance.com) – TotalEnergies announced on Monday the commissioning of a new energy storage site, made up of 11 containers of lithium-ion batteries designed and assembled by its subsidiary Saft.

The site – which has a storage capacity of 25 MWh – is located on its Carling petrochemical platform (Moselle), which includes two natural gas power plants and batteries.

The project should promote the stabilization of the electricity network and electricity supply during peak consumption in France, particularly in winter.

It is part of a long-term call for tenders with the manager of the Electricity Transport Network (RTE).

After the commissioning of another storage site in Dunkirk, TotalEnergies plans to install a third site at the end of 2022 in order to finalize the portfolio of projects carried out for RTE.
