(Boursier.com) — TotalEnergies and Orsted are joining forces to respond to offshore wind tenders in the “Holland Coast West” area of the Netherlands, with the aim of achieving a net positive impact on biodiversity and the Dutch energy system. The two sites concerned are located 53 kilometers from the Dutch coast and have a combined capacity of nearly 1.5 gigawatts. World leaders in renewable energy and offshore wind, Orsted and TotalEnergies will join forces in these tenders with a view to contributing to the Netherlands’ objective of developing more than 70 GW of wind capacity. offshore by 2050 for power generation associated with large-scale hydrogen production.

As the largest developer of offshore wind farms in the world, Orsted has leading experience in the development and construction of offshore wind farms in strict compliance with the principles of sustainable development and ecology. Orsted aims to have a positive impact on biodiversity by 2030. In addition, Orsted has significant global experience in delivering large-scale green energy for communities and industry. The successful completion – on time and on budget during a global pandemic – of the Borssele 1&2 wind farm demonstrates that Orsted is a reliable partner for the green transformation of the Netherlands.

TotalEnergies will deploy its recognized expertise in offshore operations and its long experience as an integrated energy company in the Netherlands, through an ambitious investment program in green energy and hydrogen production to decarbonize its industrial activities in the province from Zeeland. TotalEnergies will also ensure the stability of the Dutch electricity network while placing sustainable development in all its dimensions at the heart of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of populations.

The HKW VI call for tenders will strengthen the integration of ecological criteria in the development of wind farms. Through its measures, its unprecedented monitoring program and its strong cooperation with companies, institutions, universities and NGOs, it favors coordination with all parties, both international and local, with a view to acquiring the knowledge necessary for wind farms to contribute to the protection of nature.

Zeeland is the largest hydrogen cluster in the Netherlands. With an electrolysis capacity of 600 MW, it could become the largest green hydrogen cluster in the world by 2027, powered solely by the Holland Coast West wind farm. By adding to this, among other things, electric transport, batteries and the direct electrification of industry, we will achieve maximum integration of electric systems. The names of the winners of the tender should be announced by the Dutch government in the autumn.
