(Boursier.com) — Patrick Pouyanné, during his trip to Denmark, signed an agreement with the President of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on the creation of the DTU-TotalEnergies Excellence Center of Clean Energy. This research center of excellence will aim in particular to develop reliable, profitable and low-emission energy solutions, to improve the intermittency of renewable energies and to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial installations. Located to the west of Copenhagen, this new center will be housed within the premises of the DTU, which is, among other things, recognized for being at the forefront of research on offshore wind energy, thus paving the way for synergies with the activities of TotalEnergies, which is already developing a global portfolio of offshore wind projects with a total capacity of more than 11 GW (3/4 fixed wind power and 1/4 floating wind power).

The DTU-TotalEnergies Excellence Center of Clean Energy will notably have the task of building a new-generation hybrid electric platform, but also the multi-energy training of employees, as well as research collaborations. This new joint research center is part of TotalEnergies’ open-innovation approach, which relies on its talents, its research infrastructures, its pilot sites but also on a network of international research centers, start-ups and high-level academic partners. R&D, in close collaboration with the industrial division and the ‘businesses’, is positioned “at the forefront of the Company’s transformation by devoting 60% of its budget to the development of new energies and sustainable development”.
