(Boursier.com) — TotalEnergies and Eni (operator) have made a new gas discovery on the Zeus-1 well located on Block 6, offshore Cyprus. It follows two other discoveries, Calypso-1 and Cronos-1, made on the same block, respectively in 2018 and last August.
The Zeus-1 well encountered a gas column of 105 net meters in carbonate reservoirs, reinforcing the promise of this area and its development.

Located 162 kilometers off the coast of Cyprus and five kilometers west of Cronos-1, the Zeus-1 well was safely drilled and successfully tested by the Tungsten Explorer drilling rig.

“This success on the Zeus-1 well reinforces the potential of Block 6, just four months after the discovery of Cronos-1,” said Kevin McLachlan, Exploration Director of TotalEnergies. “The new data collected from this well will allow us to evaluate options for rapid development of the discovered resources.” TotalEnergies holds a 50% stake in Block 6, of which Eni is the operator (50%). In Cyprus, the Company is also present in offshore blocks 11 (50%, operator), 7 (50%, operator), 2 (20%), 3 (30%), 8 (40%) and 9 (20% ).
