TotalEnergies: new concession in the North Sea to develop 1.5 GW of offshore wind power

(Boursier.com) — TotalEnergies as a shareholder of Offshore Wind One GmbH, has been awarded the maritime concession N-11.2 by the Federal Network Agency following the recent auction in Germany. Located in the North Sea, approximately 120 kilometres northwest of the German archipelago Heligoland, the N-11.2 concession (1.5 GW) covers an area of ​​approximately 156 square kilometres. This success will enable TotalEnergies to build a 3.5 GW offshore wind hub in the German part of the North Sea, leveraging the synergies between this new project and the 2 GW concession N-12.1, won last year.

As part of this allocation, Offshore Wind One GmbH will pay the German federal state 196 million euros by June 2025, which will be allocated to the conservation of the marine environment and the promotion of environmentally friendly fishing. . In addition, an annual fee of 88 million euros will be paid, for 20 years, to the electricity transmission network manager responsible for connecting the project, from the commissioning of the site. The concession is concluded for a period of 25 years which can be extended to 35 years.
