TotalEnergies: produced SAF via the SATORP platform

(CercleFinance.com) – TotalEnergies announces that SATORP, a platform jointly owned by Aramco (62.5%) and TotalEnergies (37.5%), has succeeded in producing ISCC+ certified sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by co-processing at from used cooking oil.

SATORP has received international ISCC+ (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification to produce SAF. This certification will allow the platform to respond to the expected increase in demand for SAF in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Sustainable aviation fuels produced from used cooking oil provide at least an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions over the entire life cycle, compared to their fossil equivalent.

Building on this success, TotalEnergies continues to develop its portfolio of circular products thanks to its Jubail platform. SATORP previously announced the production of ISCC+ certified circular polymers from pyrolysis oil from plastic waste.

‘This project on the SATORP platform is part of the objective set by TotalEnergies: to produce 1.5 million tonnes per year of SAF by 2030,’ declared François Good, Director of Refining and Petrochemicals for Africa, the Middle East and Asia at TotalEnergies.
