PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Energy producer TotalEnergies will produce 300,000 tonnes of sustainable fuel aviation (SAF) by 2024 or 2025, CEO Patrick Pouyanné said on Tuesday. .
“We will have 300,000 tonnes per year of SAF available by 2024-2025,” the manager told the Paris Air Forum. “It is a sector of the future in which we will make investments”, also assured Patrick Pouyanné.
TotalEnergies notably produces biofuels for aviation at its sites in La Mède, in Bouches-du-Rhône, and Oudalle, in Seine-Maritime. The Grandpuits site, in Seine-et-Marne, should start production in 2024.
Patrick Pouyanné also estimated that two-thirds of the decarbonization of air transport will come from fuel. “The rest will be the infrastructure and the planes themselves, because of their efficiency,” he added.
