Totally Accurate Battlegrounds: end of the joke, Landfall stops updates

In 2018, everyone wanted their Battle Royale. PUBG: Battlegrounds and Fortnite were hitting (they still do), and Landfall had in its catalog Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, an epic battle simulator with a very random physics engine. He declined it in Totally Accurate Battlegrounds and… it hit.

What was supposed to be a joke attracted nearly 30,000 simultaneous players when it was launched (it was playable for free for 100 hours). But the numbers soon dropped despite the updates, Landfall decided to pass Totally Accurate Battlegrounds in free-to-play last year, giving it a second wind, but it was not enough. On Steamthe studio explains that it had contacted another studio to take care of the aspect free-to-play of the game, especially the online store, but he finally had to do everything himself, leaving him no longer time to offer updates and fixes. Landfall admit it, it’s his fault that Totally Accurate Battlegrounds isn’t a hit anymorepointing in particular to problems with the anti-cheat system, performance concerns and even bugs affecting players with hardware AMDwho dropped out Totally Accurate Battlegrounds. Currently, the title only attracts a few thousand players simultaneously, that’s not much.

For a few months now, the game has therefore no longer brought in any money for Landfall, which focuses on other projects. Today he officially announces thatthere will be no more updates for Totally Accurate Battlegrounds, but the servers will still keep running. Anyway, it’s the end of a long but very funny joke, and it will have lasted much longer than most of its competitors of the time (The Culling, The Darwin Project, Radical Heights), even more so than more recent titles like Hyperscape.
