In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Steven Spielberg recalled an anecdote during the filming of his film ET, during which he was sharply reprimanded by Kathleen Kennedy, producer of the film, because of his behavior.

In an interview given in 2017 to Hollywood Reporterthe filmmaker recalled an anecdote from the shooting of his film AND produced by Kathleen Kennedy, who began working with the filmmaker on his film 1941, as an assistant director.
By his own admission, he had the arrogance and even the conceit of his youth, but also spoke brutally to the film crew, a bit like a domestic tyrant.
“I was a bit of a hothead, impatient, I could be tough with my technical team, but loving with the cast. After 15 days of filming ET, she took me aside in her office, told me made me sit in an armchair, and gave me the shouting match of my life. Because she didn’t like the way I spoke to the team. She didn’t care about my impatience, nor my sharp side.
She told me: “This is completely unacceptable behavior.” I hadn’t heard that since school or from my mother. It was the most beneficial reframing of my life. I have become concerned and attentive since then, because someone I believed in and respected had called me to order.”
Kathleen Kennedy had all the more courage and merit in reframing Spielberg because the filmmaker was someone established in Hollywood, since the immense success of his Jaws, and that AND was the first film she produced.
