New week and new predictions for the FIFA 23 TOTW 18 Team of the Week. As usual, EA will offer new IF cards based on the results of the best professional players from the past week. For the moment, the TOTW (IF) card system seems to be the same as last year with a Featured card (highlighted) as well as fairly standard boosts depending on the level of the card. We therefore present to you our predictions for the new cards which will be available in the packs from Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Guardians Team of the Week 18
Koen Casteels, Wolfsburg, Bundesliga
As often in our Team of the Week predictions, we opted for a goalkeeper from the Bundesliga. Here, the Belgian Koen Casteels, author of a good performance in Wolfsburg’s 2-0 victory against Cologne. Note that the goalkeeper was voted Man of the Match, which could be a decisive element for EA.
Steve Mandanda, Rennes, Ligue 1
The French veteran continues to shine even far from OM. Mandanda was heroic once again for Rennes, with a great game against a much more inspired FC Nantes. The goalkeeper allowed his club to leave with the 3 points despite much fewer opportunities.
Defender Predictions
Theo Hernandez, AC Milan, Serie A
A somewhat daring prediction but in view of the last few weeks, EA could opt for slightly more aggressive choices. Thus, Théo Hernandez was decisive in AC Milan’s victory against Atalanta, a very important match in view of the top 3 in Serie A. The French international is also MOTM for his performance while by being listed in the typical team of the week in the Italian championship. This second TOTW will necessarily be Meta and will become an alternative to the World Cup version.
Junior Firpo, Leeds, Premier League
A week after Emerson, another Premier League defensive end could find himself in the Team of the Week. Indeed, Firpo was the only scorer in the duel at the bottom of the standings between Leeds and Southampton, giving a breath of fresh air to his training.
Midfielders
Antonio Candreva, Salernitana, Serie A
It’s moving on the side of Serie A (with the exception of Naples which dominates in the lead) and the places to stay in the Italian championship will be difficult to find. However, the Salernitana has put a first option with now 7 points difference with 17th place. The club won 3-0 against Monza thanks in particular to Antonio Candreva’s goal and assist.
Phil Foden, Man City, Premier League
After a disappointment against Nottingham Forrest, Manchester City recovered with a 4-1 card against Bournemouth. If Haaland once again made the powder speak, it was Foden who stood out the most with a solo goal (on an interception) and an assist. From a Meta point of view, the English player already has better alternatives than this TOTW.
Which Attackers in TOTW 18?
Kylian Mbappé, PSG, Ligue 1
A week after being ignored by EA in TOTW 17 despite two goals against LOSC, Kylian Mbappé is once again in our predictions. To change, the world champion planted a double and a decisive pass! But the difference lies in the context, since PSG beat OM 3-0, allowing them to wash away the affront of the defeat in the cup. This TOTW card should be an alternative to his World Cup 93, an extremely Meta and sought after option. Note that his teammate Lionel Messi could take this place, he who was present on the three goals.
Timo Werner, RB Leipzig, Bundesliga
It is the return to form of Timo Werner who, far from Chelsea, once again shines as a good scorer. The German player scored the game’s first goal before adding an assist as Leipzig beat Frankfurt 2-1. place in the German championship. A second TOTW map should be quite interesting, seeing as his 86 World Cup is still used as a not-too-expensive option.
FIFA 23 Featured Map of the Week
Junya Ito, Reims, Ligue 1
One of last year’s new features, the Team of the Week Featured card is back in FIFA 23. For TOTW 18, our pick is Junya Ito. The Japanese international scored a goal in addition to two assists, allowing Reims to beat Toulouse 3-0. This card would be close to his PTG, which is quite interesting for a not too expensive Ligue 1 formation.
Cards that could appear in TOTW 18
We list here players who have a chance of appearing there but who, for various reasons should miss the selection of EA. The interest of listing these cards is to protect you from an investment point of view (see below) and thus potentially take some risks on less expected players.

How to get TOTW cards in FIFA 23?
TOTW cards are often interesting at high level but also for DCEs as well as to achieve specific objectives in friendly match mode. Therefore, even on players whose overall rating would be quite low, it is necessary to know how to get these TOTW cards on FIFA 23.
The first source is obviously the transfer market, where you can find a player’s TOTW cards in special versions of their cards. Be careful, however, because the IF cards sell for much more than the basic version. This is explained in particular by their rarity but also by the fact that the base price (in discard) is already quite high.
A second source remains gold packs of the game, which have these special cards for one week (from Wednesday to the following Wednesday at 7 p.m.). So be careful because once this week is over, it will be impossible to drop them in packs.
Additionally, Team of the Week cards are obtainable as a reward for FUTChampion (WL) depending on your ranking. If this year, the rewards could change, EA should not remove the presence of the TOTW cards. Similarly, the weekly ranking in Rivals allows to obtain TOTW cards although again, in FUT Champion mode (red).
Finally, specific TOTW Packs will be present during the season in ECDalthough the latter are often unprofitable because they are totally random.
Investments linked to TOTW predictions on FIFA 23
If the cards of the players selected in the Team of the week are often good sources of investment, it is also possible to earn credits via the TOTW. Indeed, there are several methods to speculate on the market.
Thus, the simplest and most regular is to bet on current TOTW players’ normal Gold cards. These are not present in the packs during the week, limiting the quantity of cards. If a player is looking to use these cards for DCEs or for their team, the prices can spike a lot. So buy the cards in anticipation of this rise, speculating on TOTW’s predictions. This technique is called OOP (Out of Packs, understand outside of packs) and also works for special cards in events. The more specific the card (big league, nation and rare position), the greater its potential. For example, a player like Jonathan Claus is very interesting because he is French, from Ligue 1 and on a relatively rare DD position in the Gold card. Therefore, his price in the Gold version could easily triple in OOP.
In addition, another method is to analyze future good TOTW cards and thus speculate on the cards related to them. For example, if Haaland receives a Team of the Week card, it’s likely players will be looking to incorporate him into their FUT roster. Thus, they will also seek to link this new card with other Premier League players, Man City players or even Norwegian players in order to create the best possible links. It is therefore possible to invest in cards allowing perfect links, just before the release of the new Team of the week. This technique will be useful with the release of special maps until around mid-December, before which time Team of the Week starts to look less interesting on FIFA 23.
Note that these two strategies require good anticipation of the market, but also finding the right timing. Often the cards to buy go up quickly, so you need to plan ahead who to buy. Also, this bull run won’t last long, so it’s necessary to play for a few days and quickly sell your cards.
