TOTW 2 predictions for FIFA 23 Team of the Week

New week and new predictions for the FIFA 23 TOTW 2 Team of the Week. As usual, EA will offer new IF cards based on the results of the best professional players from the past week. For the moment, the TOTW (IF) card system seems to be the same as last year with a Featured card (highlighted) as well as fairly standard boosts depending on the level of the card. We therefore present to you our predictions for the new cards which will be available in the packs from Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Prediction : Score over the past week, 8/9.

Guardians of Week 2 Team

Kasper Schmeichel, OGC Nice, Ligue 1

Excellent against France, the Danish goalkeeper could be rewarded with a first TOTW card this season. However, the new goalkeeper of OGC Nice could be present in the OTW team, thus preventing him from being selected in this Team of the week 2. However, from an investment point of view, Schmeichel is relatively safe because if he’s not in the TOTW, then the hype will be about his presence in the OTWs.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, Valencia, La Liga

While big duels are often highlighted, our prediction here concerns the match between Georgia and North Macedonia. In this Georgian victory, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was excellent, allowing his nation to win 2-0.

Defender Predictions

Virgil Van Dijk, Liverpool, Premier League

The excellent Liverpool defender scored the winning goal for the Netherlands, allowing a very important combo from an EA point of view: a goal and invincibility for a defender. Thus, VVD could get a very solid TOTW card there, which would make it a Meta option at the start of the season.

Manuel Akanji, Manchester City, Premier League

Already listed in our investment advice during the weekend, Manuel Akanji saw his price increase greatly following his very good performance with his national team. The defender scored a goal as well as an assist in Switzerland’s surprise victory over Spain.

Midfielders

Seko Fofana, RC Lens, Ligue 1

One of the most played players on FIFA 22, Seko Fofana could start the season with an IF card following his goal with Ivory Coast. The RC Lens player would be there as a Meta option for all Ligue 1 players.

Mateus Uribe, FC Porto, Liga NOS

An excellent card for a Starter Team, Mateus Uribe also shines on the pitch with two assists in Colombia’s victory. The FC Porto player could be very close to the “Gullit Gang” from the second week of FIFA 23.

Which Attackers in TOTW 2?

Mo Salah, Liverpool, Premier League

While KDB and Son were the stars of the first Team of the Week, Mo Salah could be one of the stars of TOTW 2 following his double with Egypt. Like last year, Salah is a Meta card and each special version will make it all the more interesting.

Lionel Messi, PSG, Ligue 1

Messi in TOTW for the release of FIFA 23? Knowing EA, a simple assist could be enough to put him in a Team of the Week (it was the case last year), so two goals make him one of the favorites for an IF card. Quite a nerve on FIFA 23, the Argentinian player should nevertheless be in high demand.

FIFA 22 Featured Map of the Week

Aleksandar Mitrovic, Fulham, Premier League

One of last year’s new features, the Team of the Week Featured card is back in FIFA 23. For TOTW 2, our pick is Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Fulham player scored a hat-trick with Serbia, starting his 2022-2023 season on the same footing as last year.

Cards that could appear in TOTW 2

We list here players who have a chance of appearing there but who, for various reasons should miss the selection of EA. The interest of listing these cards is to protect you from an investment point of view (see below) and thus potentially take some risks on less expected players.

  • Marquinhos, PSG
  • Diogo Dalot, Manchester United
  • Olivier Giroux, AC Milan
  • Hirving Lozano, Napoli
  • Giancomo Raspadori, Napoli

How to get TOTW cards in FIFA 22?

TOTW cards are often interesting at high level but also for DCEs as well as to achieve specific objectives in friendly match mode. Therefore, even on players whose overall rating would be quite low, it is necessary to know how to get these TOTW cards on FIFA 23.

The first source is obviously the transfer market, where you can find a player’s TOTW cards in special versions of their cards. Be careful, however, because the IF cards sell for much more than the basic version. This is explained in particular by their rarity but also by the fact that the base price (in discard) is already quite high.

A second source remains gold packs of the game, which have these special cards for one week (from Wednesday to the following Wednesday at 7 p.m.). So be careful because once this week is over, it will be impossible to drop them in packs.

Additionally, Team of the Week cards are obtainable as a reward for FUTChampion (WL) depending on your ranking. If this year, the rewards could change, EA should not remove the presence of the TOTW cards. Similarly, the weekly ranking in Rivals allows to obtain TOTW cards although again, in FUT Champion mode (red).

Finally, specific TOTW Packs will be present during the season in ECDalthough the latter are often unprofitable because they are totally random.

Investments linked to TOTW predictions on FIFA 23

If the cards of the players selected in the Team of the week are often good sources of investment, it is also possible to earn credits via the TOTW. Indeed, there are several methods to speculate on the market.

Thus, the simplest and most regular is to bet on current TOTW players’ normal Gold cards. These are not present in the packs during the week, limiting the quantity of cards. If a player is looking to use these cards for DCEs or for their team, the prices can spike a lot. So buy the cards in anticipation of this rise, speculating on TOTW’s predictions. This technique is called OOP (Out of Packs, understand outside of packs) and also works for special cards in events. The more specific the card (big league, nation and rare position), the greater its potential. For example, a player like Jonathan Claus is very interesting because he is French, from Ligue 1 and on a relatively rare DD position in the Gold card. Therefore, his price in the Gold version could easily triple in OOP.

In addition, another method is to analyze future good TOTW cards and thus speculate on the cards related to them. For example, if Haaland receives a Team of the Week card, it’s likely players will be looking to incorporate him into their FUT roster. Thus, they will also seek to link this new card with other Bundesliga players, Dortmund players or even Norwegian players in order to create the best possible links. It is therefore possible to invest in cards allowing perfect links, just before the release of the new Team of the week. This technique will be useful with the release of special maps until around mid-December, before which time Team of the Week starts to look less interesting on FIFA 23.

Note that these two strategies require good anticipation of the market, but also finding the right timing. Often the cards to buy go up quickly, so you need to plan ahead who to buy. Also, this bull run won’t last long, so it’s necessary to play for a few days and quickly sell your cards.

So much for our predictions of the players of the new FIFA 23 TOTW 2 team of the week. If as often EA will seek to muddy the waters by selecting profiles a little more obscure, we are confident that the majority of the players listed above will be available as a special card on FIFA 23. As a reminder, the TOTW 2 will be officially unveiled Wednesday at 7 p.m..
