The fight for the English football championship remains a thrilling crime thriller: defending champions Manchester City regain the lead in the Premier League. With a clear win against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Guardiola team pulls past Liverpool again.
Manchester City have fought back in the hard-fought title race in the English Premier League and pushed Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC back off the top of the table. The champions beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 (0-0) and are now, six games before the end of the season, one point ahead of the Reds, who won just as furiously and clearly 4-0 (2: 0) against Manchester United.
Riyad Mahrez (54), Phil Foden (65) and Bernardo Silva (82) scored for Man City, who celebrated their 24th win in 32 games. National player Ilkay Gündogan was in the starting eleven for team manager Josep Guardiola’s team, while former Bundesliga professional Pascal Groß played for Brighton from the start.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel suffered a severe setback with Chelsea in the London derby. The team of the German team manager lost – without his ailing German defender Antonio Rüdiger – despite a goal by national player Timo Werner (17th) against the recently troubled Arsenal FC 2: 4 (2: 2).
