Toulouse: he comes to the aid of his octogenarian neighbor before viciously swindling him

While he had offered help to his 80-year-old neighbor to help him organize his many official documents, a Toulouse man was placed in police custody for having defrauded his victim of more than 14,000 euros in less than a year. Explanations.

A heartbreaking new scam story. An 80-year-old man who lived in the city of Toulouse went to his bank branch to try to settle a problem with his banker. But this octogenarian not being of French origin, a bad understanding between the two people was felt. But luck doing things well, one of his neighbors was present in the agency right at that time and offered to serve as an interpreter. And the trap began to close.

Because between the months of June 2021 and May 2022, the 80-year-old Toulousain, living since abroad, noticed many bank withdrawals made on his French account. In total, during these eleven months, more than 14,000 euros were transferred to another person. Faced with this monstrous sum, the retiree logically decided to file a complaint to find out who was stealing his money.

Quickly, the national police got their hands on the individual, who was therefore… this neighbor. Summoned last week to the Toulouse police station, he had to explain himself for long hours on the strings of this big scam. Unknown to the services, the latter admitted having made transfers. But denied the fraudulent nature of these, indicating that he had the old gentleman’s verbal agreement to make them. A justification that did not pass in the eyes of the police. Thus, he will appear in court next November.
