But this Thursday, July 21, bike fans learned bad news. In fact, the journalist Laurent Luyat announced on social media that he was leaving the Vélo Club presentationthe program that looks back on the best moments of the day’s race.
“The friends, for health reasons (no big deal) I won’t be able to finish the Tour. I am sorry. It’s never happened to me, it’s funny. Thank you for all the good times spent together. See you in Munich for the European Championships”, wrote the 54-year-old presenter on his Twitter account. Laurent Luyat at the helm of the Tour de France since 2005
Laurent Luyat joined the sports department of France Télévisions in 2000. Since then, viewers are used to finding the journalist to host major sporting events such as the Olympic Games or Roland Garros. And since 2005, he has been in charge of the Tour de France. This year, Laurent Luyat was able to count on the presence of Alexandre Pasteur, Marion Rousse and Laurent Jalabert to comment on the stages of the Tour, and on Franck Ferrand to reveal the secrets of French heritage. However, the name of his replacement has not yet been revealed.
