Tour de France: France Télé records a new record for viewers

A record number of 42.5 million viewers watched the Tour de France for at least a minute on the antennas of France Télévisions, allowing France 2 to arrive at the top of the hearings over the first three weeks of July, announced Monday the public group. La Grande Boucle, won by Jonas Vingegaard and punctuated by his duel with Tadej Pogacar, recorded its best average afternoon audience on France 2 since 2011, with 4.2 million viewers (+130,000 compared to 2022), for 44.1% audience share (PDA), according to Médiamétrie figures reported by France Télé in a press release.

New record for France Télé digital channels

It thus allows France 2, which broadcast the event from 3 p.m., “to be the leading channel in France for the first 3 weeks of July with a PDA of 19.2%”, it is underlined. The best average audience concerns “the July 16 stage between Les Gets Les Portes du Soleil and Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc with 6.3 million” viewers and “an historic peak at 8.7 million, the 2nd best stage in the last 20 years”. For its part, France 3 gathered, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., an average of 2.4 million viewers for a PDA of 23.8%, down slightly from last year (2.5 million viewers, 24.3% of PDA).

The program “Vélo club” also recorded its best audience since 2019 with 2.3 million followers and 24.5% of PDA on average. On digital (France.tv, Francetv sport and franceinfo), France Télé also claims a new record of 22 million videos viewed. France Télévisions, also TV producer of the Tour de France, and Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), organizer of the cycling race, announced on Sunday the extension of their partnership until 2030.
