The Dane won the intermediate sprint at Gérardmer, pocketed 20 points and moved up to 11th place in the standings, still dominated by Wout van Aert.
78 km: The breakaway approaches the intermediate sprint of Gérardmer

They are five to take their chance and break away. The two Bora-Hansgrohe team riders Nils Politt and Maximilian Schachmann started the breakaway, followed by Peter Sagan and Pierre Latour. But they are taken back a few hundred meters further by the peloton.
