FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope does not come to the women’s Tour de France to do extra work. As manager Stephen Delcourt points out, the only French team in the Women’s WorldTour will attack its “biggest goal of the season” in a few days.
To take up the challenge, FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope, 2nd in the UCI team ranking, will be counting on the Italian Marta Cavalli and the Danish Cecilie Uttrup-Ludwig, “two of the best climbers-punchers in the world”.
The two riders recently distinguished themselves at the Giro Donne (Women’s Tour of Italy, editor’s note): Cavalli finished second less than two minutes behind the winner Annemiek van Vleuten, while Ludwig took sixth place overall.
With our collective, the fourteen cyclists of the team had the level to claim a place.
We had to make choices. Stephen Delcourt, General Manager
On the French roads, the Italian and the Dane hope this time to get on the top step of the podium, which is why the FDJ-Suez-Futuroscope has made available to them “the most competitive team possible”.
Muzic as a luxury crew
This is how the Australian Grace Brown and the 2021 French champion Evita Muzic, who could also claim to play the general, will turn into luxury teammates, especially in the mountains, to try to bring Cavalli or Uttrup-Ludwig up to the yellow jersey.
To complete the selection, another Frenchwoman, Marie Le Net, was selected, as well as a second Italian, Vittoria Guazzini, “who have proven their great value and their sense of teamwork”, insists Stephen Delcourt.
