The stage ended with an uphill sprint in Sant Feliu de Guixols. And Sonny Colbrelli took 2nd place behind Australian Michael Matthews. But in the moments that followed, the runner Bahrain Victorious collapsed, victim of discomfort.
The emergency services present on the scene immediately provided a cardiac massage to the last winner of Paris-Roubaix, who would have regained consciousness in the ambulance which was taking him to the nearest hospital, where he should undergo specific examinations.
