From Pentecost, travel will slowly be possible again, believes the Federal Government's Tourism Commissioner.

Travel is not yet to be thought of, but there is hope: The Federal Government's tourism commissioner, Thomas Bareiß (45), said on the program "ntv Frühstart" that he expected that travel would slowly be possible again from the second quarter. He thinks "that the Easter holidays will be a bit difficult, but then of course it will get better again from the Pentecost holidays".

For the next two or three months, due to the high number of cases, it would be difficult to imagine that travel would become normal. That depends not only on Germany, but also on how it will look in the countries that are to be visited. The mutation virus also worries him. Nevertheless, the tourism officer promises: "If we have vaccinated most of the people in Germany in the second quarter and have thus achieved security, there will also be security for traveling in summer."

"Somewhat more normal traveling"

Bareiß expects a "somewhat more normal travel activity" from the 3rd quarter, including long-distance travel in regions that are safe. They want to prevent conditions like Ischgl last year, which is why one has to be careful with easing. Politicians are currently working on developing quality seals for safe travel.

A two-class society of vaccinated and non-vaccinated people, on the other hand, will not exist: "We clearly have the message (…) that we are transporting everyone who is appropriately healthy." In a few months, when most will be vaccinated, this will no longer be an issue, Bareiß is certain.
