TousAntiCovid, WhatsApp, TikTok… Here are the 10 most downloaded applications in France

Since the health crisis, certain applications have become essential in the daily life of the French. This Sunday, January 9, Le Figaro unveiled the ranking of the most downloaded applications in France. And the big winner is like the last two years. This is the government application TousAntiCovid. Released in 2020, this device to detect positive people close to home was first shunned by a good part of the population. But the implementation of the health pass increased its notoriety.

Efficient and quick to show your health pass at the entrance of a restaurant or a cinema, TousAntiCovid has quickly become an essential application. “Today, there are a little less than 50 million phones or connected watches that have TousAntiCovid,” Cédric O, the Secretary of State for Digital Transition, told franceinfo on Friday, January 7. A colossal figure compared to the 66 million French people identified in France. The government application is closely followed by WhatsApp messaging and TikTok, the Chinese social network that has exploded since the first lockdowns in 2020.

Doctolib is ahead of Instagram and Messenger

It was a tough battle for fourth place. And the result is quite surprising since it is about Doctolib. Like TousAntiCovid, the application for making medical appointments can thank the Covid-19. Thanks to vaccination, pharmacy and laboratory tests, it has become over the months essential. Last November, the application and the site were visited by 25 million French people. When the health pass was put in place, more than a million people found themselves on Doctolib at the same time.

Just behind the medical application is Instagram, Messenger and then Facebook. A ranking that could have seemed insane a few years ago. The eighth position is not attributed to a social network but to a food delivery service: Uber Eats. To close this ranking of the most downloaded applications in France, a streaming platform occupies ninth place: Netflix. And finally, in tenth place is the Chinese e-start site, SHEIN.
