towards an increase in the tax exemption ceiling for 2022

The deputies voted Tuesday evening in favor of an increase in the tax exemption ceiling for overtime for 2022, within the framework of the examination in committee of the amending finance bill. Currently, overtime is tax-exempt up to a ceiling of 5,000 euros per year.

They adopted in the Finance Committee amendments Renaissance (formerly LREM) and Horizons, which aim to raise the tax exemption ceiling for overtime and additional hours worked by employees of 7,500 euros for the year 2022, i.e. between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. These amendments will have to be voted on in the Chamber when the text is examined from July 21.

Currently, overtime is tax-exempt up to a ceiling of 5,000 euros per year, with a maximum of 220 hours worked over a year, excluding branch or company agreements or specific collective agreements.

The Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire said he was open last week to study new measures on the tax exemption of overtime. When we look at the questions of overtime, tax exemption, is there still room for manoeuvre? (…) Why not, he said.
