The iPhone 15 Pro should not be equipped with physical buttons as usual, but with a new component equipped with three haptic motors for ignition and volume control.

Apple will be forced to abandon the Lightning port in favor of USB-C on its iPhone 15 following a decision by the European Union. But the firm is planning another major design change on its next smartphones.

No mechanical buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro

According to the latest predictions by Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most relevant analysts when it comes to future Apple products, the Apple brand should remove the traditional mechanical start and volume control buttons on two high-end models, most likely the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

These would be replaced by a hardware element better integrated into the chassis of the devices, close to the Home / Touch ID button of the old iPhone models. Apple would integrate three haptic motors in this component: one on the left side and another on the right side, in addition to the one in the center to provide better haptic feedback. This should help give users the feeling that they are pressing real keys.

Ming-Chi Kuo does not give more details on the operation or the exact positioning of this new hardware interface. In any case, we are getting closer to Apple’s dream: to create a mobile that is only a screen, without a physical button or connection.

Android brands will follow Apple

Ming-Chi Kuo adds that this design will greatly benefit suppliers of haptic motors, since their number will increase from 1 to 3 on each iPhone. Luxshare ICT and AAC Technologies are Apple’s main partners for this.

The analyst also expects Android manufacturers to rush to copy this novelty introduced by Apple on their high-end smartphones.

In any case, we are eager to see what this change can bring to the daily life in terms of user experience. If Apple is launching this novelty, it is because the company believes that the technology is ready and that consumers will respond favorably to it.
