Towards massive screening of French people?

The government is planning a wave of Covid-19 screening for all French people in order to consider the possibility of deconfinement.

"If we want to get out of this confinement phase, we must begin to be able to test the population, and we must have the means" explains François Bricaire, infectiologist and member of the National Academy of Medicine at BFMTV. This is why the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced last Saturday that 5 million tests had been ordered in order to apprehend the deconfinement: "We hope that the research will allow us to be ready to provide this type of fundamental examination for the French as we prepare for the deconfinement of France "

Massive screening is therefore expected soon by the government. The Directorate General of Health specifies that an increase in screening capacity is therefore planned for the coming weeks and months. The estimate is "30,000 additional tests per day in April, 60,000 additional tests per day in May and more than 100,000 tests per day in June"

The goal ? Detect healthy carriers who represent 30 to 60% of patients in France according to the Institut Pasteur. François Bricaire, former head of the Infectious Diseases Department at La Pitié-Salpêtrière, explains that these screenings could be the solution for a progressive deconfinement. Because, in fact, it remains to know who can be given priority: "We still have to determine the people to be tested first." In addition, care should be taken to avoid a rebound in the epidemic and to organize the screening process. Should you go to the general practitioner, hospitals or pharmacy?
