Towards the end of Twitter after Elon Musk’s ultimatum? Back to the saga that shakes the blue bird

It was at the end of October that Elon Musk officially and publicly took control of one of the most influential social networks in the world: Twitter. Acquired for a total sum of approximately $44 billion by the leader of Tesla, the latter now divides users… and not only! Twitter employees are suffering from an ultimatum issued by Elon Musk a few days ago, which would have caused the departure of hundreds of people essential to the proper functioning of the network. Could this be the end of Twitter?

“Give it your all unconditionally or leave”

Here is the ultimatum faced by Twitter employees who had already survived the first wave of layoffs the day after Elon Musk arrived on the premises. A heavy decision therefore that they had to take by means of a questionnaire, to which many seem to have answered “leave”. Although we do not yet have the official figures for the responses to this questionnaire, several figures on the platform, including Andrea Horst, have made the heavy decision to prioritize their mental and physical health rather than give themselves unconditionally for the company: “I may be exceptional, but […] I am not unconditional”.

After that, Elon Musk allegedly asked employees to actually work their fullest to build an exceptional Twitter 2.0 which could face stiff competition and project the platform to the top of the most popular networks in the world. Great ambitions, surely too great for many employees who do not support the projects of the leader of Tesla… at least not at the risk of burnout. The teams therefore remain divided between those who have chosen to stay and support their new boss and those who leave with the memories of their experience at Twitter in mind.

“Elon Musk: Megalomaniac, uninteresting billionaire,…”

A message that has been looped on the walls of Twitter headquarters in San Francisco. Thereby, the facade of the building has turned into an anti-Elon Musk monument after closing its doors last Thursday for reasons still unknown to the general public.

From the origin of the message, an activist named Alan Marlingtotally opposed to the decisions of the leader of SpaceX: “It seems that Elon Musk wants the social network to become a megaphone of hate, hostile to anyone who is not an overprivileged white man”he said for The San Francisco Standard.

While employees who have chosen to stay at Twitter seem rather divided, the platform is already suffering from this cruel lack of staff. Who knows what will become of her in the next few days. Waiting, many users are already tweeting #RIPTwitter which in the night from Thursday to Friday found itself in the top of the world trends. What will become of the little blue bird?
