Toxic Commando explores John Carpenter’s cinema in 2024

Bloodshed and zombies are still in the game this year, this time with a title that pays homage to the cinema of John Carpenter, Toxic Commando. The new FPS from Saber Interactive will be reminiscent of other games putting a handful of players against a horde of monsters. Published by Focus Entertainment, it is expected for 2024 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

We have to believe that despite the passing years, many developers continue to be inspired by the formula Left 4 Dead. Four players, different classes for distinct playstyles, weapons and hordes of zombies. A fairly simple proposal, already seen many times, but which can be effective. It remains to be seen if a card game will invite itself in order to tick all the boxes of what is overused.

Nevertheless, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando enjoys a major advantage. The Swarm Engine, developed by Saber Interactive for World War Z: Aftermath, works wonders when dealing with a large number of entities on screen. We can therefore expect a large-scale, particularly impressive invasion. From there to say that this new title will suffer the same fate, it is still too early to say.
