Toyota has decided to recall approximately 2,700 bZ4Xs, due to an issue with wheel nuts. North American, European and Asia-Pacific models are affected.
Return to sender for the Toyota bZ4X. Put on the market only a few weeks ago, the electric SUV of the Japanese brand suffers from a mechanical anomaly which forces the group to recall all the models already delivered – around 2700 – tells us CNBC. North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific are concerned.
Under investigation
The problem in question concerns the wheel nuts, which can loosen even after low mileage. The risk is serious: the wheels could simply detach from the vehicle, admitted a Toyota spokesperson. For now, the mystery remains as to the cause of this complication. The investigation is ongoing.
The first owners of the bZ4X have been notified via various channels since June 23. In France, it is currently only possible to pre-order the vehicle, which does not necessarily collect the best advertisements for its debut. Granted, the problem isn’t with the battery or the powertrain, but there is still a problem.
An early reminder
Vehicle recalls – whether thermal or electric – are relatively common. But this one seems particularly early, even as the first essays in the specialized press have begun to be published. A very bad timing for Toyota, which still needs to prove itself in the electric.
The Japanese firm certainly has a notable reputation in hybrid vehicles, but it still lacks character in the electric car market. Despite strong ambitions that would push it to release 30 trendy models by 2030, said its president, Akio Toyoda, last December.
