(Boursier.com) — Toyota-Motor cut its global production plan for June for the second time this week, this time lowering its forecast from around 50,000 vehicles to 800,000 units. Citing the shortage of parts resulting from the spread of Covid-19 in China and the impact of the containment in Shanghai, the Japanese manufacturer decided to suspend operations in some of its national factories during the week of June 6. Following this decision, the worldwide production plan for June is expected to be around 800,000 cars (around 200,000 units in Japan and 600,000 overseas).

Toyota estimates it can produce nearly 850,000 vehicles per month between June and August and confirms its full-year target of 9.7 million units although there is a “possibility that the production plan will be lower” . “As it remains difficult to anticipate due to the shortage of semiconductors and the spread of Covid-19, we will continue to make every effort to deliver as many vehicles as possible to our customers as soon as possible”, underlines the Japanese group.
