(CercleFinance.com) – Toyota would like to apologize for the repeated adjustments to production plans, due to parts shortages resulting from the spread of COVID-19.
In this context, the manufacturer announces that its overall production plan for the month of June is around 850,000 units (250,000 units in Japan and 600,000 units abroad). “Due to the impact of semiconductor shortages, we have adjusted our plan to produce tens of thousands of units worldwide from the number supplied to our suppliers at the start of the year,” Toyota said.
The average monthly global production plan from June to August is approximately 850,000 units and 9.7 million units for the entire period of fiscal 2023.
“Semiconductor shortages, the spread of COVID-19 and other factors make it difficult to forecast, but we will continue to do everything we can to deliver as many vehicles as possible to our customers as soon as possible.”
“In addition, due to parts supply shortages caused by the lockdown in Shanghai, we have decided to suspend operations in May and June,” the manufacturer continues. Production will thus be suspended in sixteen production lines distributed in 10 factories, out of a total of 28 production lines and 14 factories that Toyota has in Japan.
