Tractor maker AGCO says its operations at some facilities have been hit by a ransomware attack.

Farm equipment maker AGCO Corp said on Friday it expects the operations of some of its production facilities to be affected for “several days and potentially longer” following a ransomware attack.

Shares of the company fell 4% to $125.55.

AGCO did not reveal the names of the facilities or whether any data was stolen, but added that it was still surveying the extent of Thursday’s attack and working to repair its systems.

The company, which competes with its big rival Deere & Co for the sale of tractors and combines, manufactures and assembles products at 42 sites around the world, including four where it operates joint ventures.

AGCO, which had net sales of $11.1 billion in 2021, has three primary manufacturing sites in the United States, with facilities in other countries including China, Germany and France, according to its last annual filing.

The ransomware attack comes at a time when US agricultural equipment manufacturers are facing ongoing supply chain disruptions that are preventing them from meeting farmers’ demand for equipment. (Reporting by Nathan Gomes Bengaluru; Editing by Rashmi Aich and Shounak Dasgupta)
