A mass collision involving more than 20 vehicles occurred on the A2 motorway in Lucerne on Friday morning.
At least five people were injured in the accident on the Knutwilerhöhe.
The southbound freeway remains closed for the time being.

The collision occurred at around 8:40 a.m. in the southbound direction between Dagmersellen and Sursee on the Knutwilerhöhe. According to a police spokesman, it is still unclear why the vehicles crashed.
The Lucerne police announced on Twitter that the A2 motorway to the south will remain temporarily closed. The rescue work was currently underway and the accident vehicles were being transported away, the police said at noon. She asks motorists to drive around the area as far as possible.
