Traffic chaos – bus plans in Hallein are being adjusted

Adapted bus plans, more drivers: The Hallein crisis summit brought the first measures against the public transport chaos in Tennengau.

The crisis summit in Hallein town hall lasted almost 2.5 hours. There was enough to discuss – the current traffic chaos in Salzburg’s second largest city was the central topic. As reported, a new timetable has been in effect since last week. And that’s where the problems began: Many buses run less frequently or not at all. There are more and more complicated transfers, the cycle times are significantly different. Students in particular are affected. Parents climbed the barricades and put pressure on the Salzburger Verkehrsverbund (SVV). On Monday they met for a big discussion and agreed on the first measures. The bus operator Breuss promised to hire new drivers as quickly as possible. There would be firm commitments as early as the beginning of 2024. At the end of the Christmas holidays there will also be the first timetable adjustments. This should lead to shorter waiting times when changing trains in the future. New buses are scheduled to be in use from February 2024.
