This weekend marks the official start of school holidays in France and will see many long-distance trips on the main roads of the country. Traffic will be heavy on most major southbound and coastal routes.
Saturday, the difficulties in the direction of the departures will be the most important of the weekend on the whole of the territory and in particular on the A7 motorway in the Rhone valley. In Île-de-France, traffic will be very dense towards the toll gates of the A6 and A10 motorways from the very beginning of the morning. The A13 motorway may also experience traffic difficulties from mid-morning. These difficulties could last until mid-afternoon.
On Sunday, the situation will be calmer on the entire road network. However, difficulties will persist on the A7 motorway in the Rhône Valley in the North-South direction.
In total, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion expects 12 red days and one black day over this summer period. For the return from the Ascension Bridge, at the end of May, a day classified as black at the national level, a peak of 934 km of traffic jams had been reached.
