On Monday morning a vehicle caught fire on the Vienna south-east bypass between Handelskai and the Prater junction for an unexplained cause. The motorway is completely closed in the direction of travel south. The traffic is currently diverted at the Handelskai. The traffic jams currently reach back to Vienna’s northern edge expressway (S2) at Hermann-Gebauer-Straße, and the trend is rising.
According to ÖAMTC, time losses can also be expected in the north between Inzersdorf and Handelskai. There are also waiting times on the approach from the Danube bank motorway (A22) to the Kaisermühlen junction.
The duration of the clean-up work cannot be estimated. It is recommended, if possible, to avoid large areas.
