Tragedy on excursion – Rohrbach: Pedestrian hit by car and killed

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Rohrbach an der Lafnitz in Eastern Styria. While crossing the road, a 78-year-old woman was hit by a car and suffered head injuries so severe that she died at the scene of the accident.

At around 7.45 p.m., a 61-year-old from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district drove her car on the L405 from Vorau towards Rohrbach an der Lafnitz. At the same time, a group of pensioners crossed the street at the level of a guest house to get to the parking lot opposite. The driver of the car then probably hit the last person crossing – a 78-year-old Burgenland woman from the Oberpullendorf district – with her vehicle for a previously unknown reason. The pensioner may have hit her head against the vehicle and ended up lying unconscious next to the road. Autopsy ordered. Red Cross forces carried out resuscitation measures. The emergency doctor present was ultimately only able to determine that the woman was dead. The public prosecutor ordered a forensic autopsy.
