A tragic accident occurred on Sunday at the Predigtstuhl in the Carinthian community of Ebenthal. A 20-year-old was playing soccer with his friend at the top of the sermon chair. The man fell 50 meters into the depth. He could only be recovered dead.
On the summit plateau, two friends were playing back and forth with a soccer ball. The ball bounced off the 20-year-old’s chest. This tried to hurry after the ball and slipped over the edge of the terrain. The young man fell about 50 meters over the steep rocky terrain. His friend immediately alerted the emergency services. But without success. The Carinthian was dead on the spot.
“The recovery turned out to be extremely difficult. It was dark and extremely steep. The police helicopter Flir was able to illuminate a few places for us, ”reports Kurt Müller from the Klagenfurt mountain rescue service, who was deployed with 23 men.
