Tragic accident – woodwork: supporting cable saddle hits man on the head

A terrible accident happened on Thursday during woodwork in Vorarlberg’s Großwalsertal. A 21-year-old man was hit in the head by a suspension cable saddle and seriously injured.

The 21-year-old was busy at 12.50 p.m. in the community area on Sunday pulling a suspension cable saddle up a tree with a suspension cable that ran through a pulley. The grip pull attached to the other end of the rope was only attached to a cut branch with a strap – a loop sling. Loop sling slipped over the cut branch When the young man then pulled on the rope to pull the so-called saddle up, the loop sling slipped over the cut branch. As a result, the hoist hitched in the direction of the circulating pulley and the support cable saddle fell on the man’s head. The 21-year-old suffered serious head injuries and had to go to the state hospital for further treatment after the first aid by the emergency doctor with the Christophorus 8 rescue helicopter be flown to Feldkirch.
