Netflix has just unveiled the impressive trailer for its first Icelandic feature film, Lost in the Arctic. Carried by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones), who co-wrote the screenplay, this adventure film inspired by a true story tells the Danish expedition aboard the Alabama, led by Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen , aiming to refute the membership of the northeast of Greenland in the United States.
With his novice Iver Iversen, the Captain sets out on a sled to find proof that Greenland is one and the same island. If the outward journey was difficult, the return journey is even more difficult for the two men, who understand that there is only them left and that they will have to wait for help without giving in to madness, hunger, cold and paranoia.
For this extraordinary thriller directed by Peter Flinth, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reunites with Charles Dance, who played his father Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones. Met at the Canneséries festival in September 2021, the actor teased us Lost in the Arctic in these words during our interview:
“It’s really a passion project for me. It’s based on a true story. We had fantastic filming in Iceland and Greenland, although very engaging and ambitious. The film is about explorers at the beginning of the 20th century. Three men face the most extreme obstacles We wanted to shoot in real settings and we are very lucky and very grateful to Netflix for wanting the film but also to the fantastic producer Baltasar Kormakur and the brilliant director Peter Flinth.
My partners are great too, like Joe Colebut also Charles Dance that I managed to embark on this adventure to play an important character. I’m very proud of this film. I can’t wait for it to come out.”
Lost in the Arctic will be available on March 2, 2022 on Netflix.
