trailer, release date and new mechanics

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me will introduce several new mechanics to diversify the initial formula. The latest trailer showcases these additions and reveals the release date.

Will The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me do better than The Quarry, the latest game from Supermassive Games studio? It will in any case give itself the means to evolve to bring a breath of fresh air to this horrific anthology.

When is The Devil in Me coming out?

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me will be available on November 18, 2022 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. A terrible collector is also planned for the launch. The game tells the story of documentarians who travel to a replica of the Castle of Murders, the location where serial killer HH Holmes committed his crimes.

What’s interesting, and that’s the whole point of the Gamescom 2022 trailer, is that the gameplay will be much more diverse. We will no longer only be on “interactive film” with QTEs.

Each character will have more exploration options in order to run, jump an obstacle or climb to reach certain areas. It doesn’t stop there. An inventory to store a variety of objects makes its entrance. There will be for example a camera, a flash and if we refer to a passage, an inhaler. If necessary, they can go from hand to hand, be modified or even break. Mechanics closer to a survival horror.

And like a survival horror, The Devil in Me will have puzzles to solve. Puzzles that will probably decide the death or survival of the characters.
