Train: Price increases and new connections as of 12.6. – all information here

On June 12, 2022 there will be some innovations on the railways and some price increases. All information can be found here.

Bahn AG provides information on important innovations on June 12, 2022 on a specially created website.

Reservations are getting more expensive

Under the harmless-sounding wording “adjustments to offers” hides a price increase. Instead of 4 euros (second class) or 5.30 euros (first class) as before, from June 12, 2022, seat reservations will cost 4.50 euros in second class and 5.90 euros in first class.

The family reservation, which currently costs 8 euros in second class and 10.60 euros in first class, proposes from 12.6. 9 euros for second class and 11.80 euros for first class.

The costs for long-term reservations, on the other hand, remain unchanged at EUR 41.40.

The national and international bicycle ticket now costs a standard 9 euros (also for BahnCard customers).

New connections over the summer months

Deutsche Bahn is adding these connections to the timetable over the summer months:

  • 4 additional connections between Warnemünde, Rostock and Berlin

  • Direct connection from Dresden via Berlin to Binz or Stralsund

  • Additional connection Hamburg – Copenhagen (6 instead of 5 trains per day)

Constantly new connections

Deutsche Bahn is introducing these new connections not just for the summer months, but permanently:

  • Long-distance traffic for Chemnitz and Freiberg (Saxony)

  • Direct connection Flensburg – Prague

  • Additional connections ICE Hamburg – Cologne

  • Early in the morning: EC Lindau-Reutin – Zurich

  • Back again: Berlin – Westerland (Sylt)

There are also some savings offers, for example on selected long-distance connections or for the Bahncard 100, which is not exactly cheap and is only suitable for absolute frequent travelers. Details can also be found here.
