The rumor has been around for a long time, now there is official confirmation. The Nothing Phone (1) will have a transparent back. To anticipate leaks, the Founder Carl Pei posted a picture of the back on Twitter and so the special look of the smartphone is already shown. Actually, the smartphone will not be unveiled until July 12, but here it is:

Just like the Nothing Ear (1) headphones, this will too Nothing smartphones have a transparent back. Below you can see no printed circuit board and transistors, but a very tidy look. You get a direct view of the dual camera, the LED flash, various sensors and the coil for wireless charging. Everything is kept very simple. Reminds a bit of the inside of Apple hardware, which you can’t see, but always looks very tidy with teardowns.

The camera alone shows that this is not a high-end smartphone. The specifications have not yet been mentioned, but the Nothing Phone (1) should in the middle class in the price range of around 500 euros. It competes against smartphones like the Pixel 6a or Galaxy A53 (test). They offer a lot of features in this price range. It’ll be exciting to see how the first Nothing cell phone fares.

Nothing Phone (1) also in black?

The Nothing headphones come in both a dark and slightly lighter version. Nothing only showed the white version of the smartphone, but it’s actually considered good form that new models are offered in at least two colors. A dark version would be quite conceivable. If not right at the start, then maybe a little later.
