Mallorca wants to counteract the increasing infections by tightening the corona restrictions. Holidaymakers now have to pay attention to this.

Due to the still increasing number of infections, the Balearic government is tightening the corona restrictions on Mallorca. This particularly affects the beach and party scenes on the popular holiday island, like the “Mallorca-Zeitung” citing a press conference in Palma on Monday evening (July 19) reported. Government spokesman and tourism minister Iago Negueruela has announced the following tightening, which are still awaiting approval from the judiciary:

High fines for violation

According to the new rules, beaches and parks should remain closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Anyone who nevertheless takes part in an illegal party can expect a fine of up to 1,000 euros. Anyone who violates a quarantine must pay up to 2,000 euros. If a participant subsequently tested positive for Corona, a fine of up to 5,000 euros will be due. Organizers of illegal celebrations face a fine of up to 100,000 euros.

Stricter curfew and rules in the restaurant

In addition, the curfew for bars and restaurants will be brought forward from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. In the interior of bars and restaurants, groups of up to four people are only allowed to sit at one table, in the exterior there is a maximum of eight. According to the report, only people from the same household are allowed to meet between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Groups that have checked into a hotel or finca together are then also considered one household.

The requirement to wear masks outdoors, which was abolished around a month ago, will not be reintroduced for the time being, despite the high numbers. However, the government recommends wearing mouth and nose protection voluntarily. If the minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained, the mask is again a must in the outdoor area.
