To discover new worlds, simply listening is often enough

If not by plane, train or car, then at least in our head: With these audio books we go on a discovery tour into the world (s).

Getting to know new countries, regions, cities and people is currently rather difficult. It's good that we can also immerse ourselves in other worlds in other ways. With these radio plays, at least your head goes on a journey.

"I put on my headphones with noise-canceling and dive down. I love to travel in my head," explains Frederick Lau (31, "Nightlife") in an interview with the news agency spot on news. Not only the actor discovered this travel alternative in Corona times. Many are currently using radio plays and books to wander into the distance. Here is some inspiration for yourself or to make others happy this Christmas.

Immerse yourself in the world of John R. R. Tolkien

Globetrotters should make a detour to Middle-earth. Together with Frodo and his companions, the radio play "The Lord of the Rings" takes us to Mount Doom and against the dark ruler Sauron. For the epic, however, listeners should have a little time: the saga by J. R. R. Tolkien (1892-1973) lasts 756 minutes. The same applies to the audio book "The Hobbit". In it, Gert Heidenreich (76) takes you into the fantastic pre-story to "The Lord of the Rings" and takes fantasy friends into the adventure of Hobbit Bilbo, the magician Gandalf and the dwarf Thorin Eichenschild.

Via Italy, India and Bali to Brazil

In "Eat, Pray, Love" a woman leaves the narrowness of New York behind her to discover the Dolce Vita in Italy, inner peace in India and love in Bali. The bestseller by Elizabeth Gilbert (51) was filmed with Julia Roberts (53) and is also available as an audio book, read by Julia Fischer.

And as if Bali wasn't exotic enough, we travel on to Brazil. Spokeswoman Marion von Stengel tells "sagas, fairy tales and myths" about the South American country in two hours. This also mixes some history and historical facts. You can also browse through the booklet and learn more about the sights, which hopefully you can visit live again soon.
