  • A long traffic jam formed in front of the north portal of the Gotthard on Saturday.
  • In the morning the traffic jam length reached 15 kilometers and at 3:30 p.m. it was still around five kilometers.
  • The cold and wet weather in German-speaking Switzerland is apparently driving people to warm and sunny Ticino.

On the A2 Lucerne motorway towards Gotthard there is traffic congestion between Erstfeld and Göschenen in the canton of Uri, as the TCS announced on X. The time loss is currently up to 50 minutes.

The weather forecast for the weekend is significantly better for Ticino than for German-speaking Switzerland. On Saturday it will be sunny in Lugano with temperatures of up to 18 degrees. Spring break is also beginning in the canton of Zurich.

It is significantly cooler and rainier in German-speaking Switzerland. According to SRF Meteo, there will also be precipitation in Ticino on Sunday afternoon.
