If you want to travel cheaply throughout Germany with the 49 euro ticket, you definitely have to change this setting in the DB Navigator. Otherwise the trip will quickly become expensive fun!
For 49 euros per month you can travel throughout Germany – but the ticket is only valid on local transport. But if you search for connections in the DB Navigator, it also shows the long-distance connections. You are not allowed to use this, otherwise you could face an expensive fine for fare evasion.
However, this can be changed with just a few simple steps.
Now, when you search in the DB Navigator, you will only see local transport connections where the 49 euro ticket is valid. However, there are still exceptions: On some routes, long-distance trains run “disguised” as Regional Express. You know these connections from a note in the DB Navigator.
Also note: If you want to take a bike with you, you usually need an additional bike ticket. Only in some federal states is transport included in the ticket.
By the way: With a trick you can also secure the 49 euro ticket for 39 euros.
