John Travolta, Kim Cattrall, Sharon Stone and more have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late actor Treat Williams.

The sudden death of Treat Williams not only shocked the film world. The actor died on June 12, 2023 as a result of a motorcycle accident. The actor, who rose to stardom in the 1979 film musical ‘Hair,’ was 71 years old. On social media, a number of colleagues express their sadness and celebrate the actor’s legacy.

John Travolta (69) remembers the common beginnings on stage via Instagram. The “Pulp Fiction” star has shared the stage with Treat Williams on two shows: “Over Here” and “Grease.” Travolta later successfully filmed the latter. Shared in a story Travolta a photo of a joint appearance from the time. “I’m so sorry, Treat,” he wrote. “My thoughts are with you and your family. We will miss you. Love, John.”

“Sad news, rest in peace brother,” comments Sharon Stone (65) in an Instagram story a link to an article about Treat Williams’ death.

Vanessa Hudgens (34) celebrates Treat Williams also in an Instagram story. In “Manhattan Queen” she played his daughter. “He was a great film father and an even better person,” explains the “High School Musical” star. “Treat Williams was a fantastic actor and a good soul, a pleasure to have around.”

Kim Cattrall is ‘in shock’

“I’m in shock! Rest in peace dear Treat,” writes Kim Cattrall (66) on Twitter. The ‘Sex and the City’ actress sent condolences to the family of the deceased, whom she described as a “wonderful actor and friend”. In addition, she shares a scene from “36 Hours to Death”, a joint film from 1999.

“That’s not true. That can’t be. Oh, that hurts,” writes Melissa Gilbert (59) on Instagram. The “Our Little Farm” actress shares a picture of Treat Williams from “Hair”.

Treat Williams: From “Hair” hippie to series veteran

Born on December 1, 1951 in the US state of Connecticut, Treat Williams was already acting in college theater. After his first roles on Broadway, Williams made his film debut in 1975 in “Ice Cold”.

The breakthrough came in 1979 with his leading role in the film adaptation of the hippie musical “Hair”. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Newcomer for his performance. A few major movies followed in the early 1980s, from Prince of the City to Once Upon a Time in America.

Treat Williams remained appreciated as a supporting actor, but the big parts were missing. In the new millennium, the amateur pilot and children’s book author started a second career on television. In “Everwood” from 2002 to 2006 he played the leading role of a neurosurgeon who ended up in the provinces from New York. Most recently he had a supporting part in the series “Chesapeake Shores” (2016-2022).
