After having reinforced its range of electric mountain bikes with its very high-end Fuel EXe, the manufacturer Trek is continuing to renew its catalog with two new electric bikes, this time intended for the city: welcome to the Trek Dual Sport+ and Trek FX+ , available from 2399 and 2499 euros, respectively.

The first-named has more than one string to its bow since the brand has designed it for both leisure and gravel, a practice that mixes journeys on roads and trails. To do this, the Dual Sport + is fitted with 27.5-inch Bontrager GR0 Comp tires, combined with an electric motor placed on the rear hub.

Up to 55 km range

Legislation obliges, the electric assistance propels you to a maximum speed of 25 km/h, for a modest but suitable torque of 40 Nm. Good news, the cycle is equipped with a force sensor. Its 250 Wh battery gives it a range of 55 km, extendable by another 55 km with a “extra battery ready to use», is it written on the official website.

As for the brakes, you will have to rely on hydraulic disc brakes signed Shimano, accompanied by a 9-speed transmission of the same brand. Unfortunately, no series mudguards seem to be provided, which constitutes a considerable lack for a bike intended for both the city and the small roads.

Weighing 18 kg, the Trek Dual Sport+ is available in several sizes (S, M, L and XL), in Galactic Gray or Hex Blue colors.

A better equipped Trek FX+

For its part, the Trek FX + is 100 euros more expensive, for use more focused on leisure and daily urban journeys. Its weight, range, engine power, torque and the three levels of assistance are exactly the same.

This model differs in terms of its 11-speed mono chainring transmission and its mudguards and luggage rack included by default. Accessories oh so relevant for journeys mainly made in town.

Interesting competition

As with the Trek Dual Sport+, four sizes (S, M, L and XL) are available to purchase, in Satin Trek Black, Viper Red and Satin Mulsanne Blue colorways.

At this price bracket, this duo is positioned as competitors to Cowboy 4 or VanMoof S3. It will be interesting to compare the models according to their behavior and their proposed functionalities.
